Dog Mountain, Washington
Head over the bridge of the gods, and 12 miles up the road, and you get to Dog Mountain Trail, one of the steepest walk/hikes/climbs near to Portland.
Its a solid 8 mile round trip, and so take supplies..
This is where they grow the cotton in the PNW.
Its an amazing walk up
If not a touch steep...
One of the best Austrian Mountain goats around.
The big attraction here is the wild spring flowers. We only saw a couple for our troubles..
Miss Mareike once again blazing a trail for me as I dragged along behind.
This is nearly up there. It has a strange look much like Achensee in Tirol, or a Norweigan Fjord.
The two experienced mountain climbers, Julia and Mareike.
Go check out Julias blog at www.somewhereawesome.me for her travels around Canada and on their current road trip in the states.
Endlich the time to go back down!
One thing that always makes me laugh is the gang who have all kinds of mountain equipment, boots, poles, backpacks and Mareike just scoots past them in her runners and yoga pants.
On the way down, we headed back through Mt Hood and to Trillium Lake, always a good spot for some classic gram hams!
